[linux-dvb] OT: Win DVB Software links & comments

Sorry !

After my last post i got lots of personal emails requesting links to the
Windows Software, after answering some of them "manually" i post the URL's
here.
Competition always optimizes things, doesn't it ? :-)

So:

My current Win favourite is "DVBControl":

http://www.pdevelopment.com/dvbcontrol.php

-Nice OSD ( getting closer and closer to VDR )
-One Button Recording
-support for the Hauppauge CAM Remote ( free configurable, only Soft up to
date that has good support for the CAM Remote )
-Rock solid in terms of watching encrypted channels ( lasts forever, is
nearly impervious to channel switching )
-FAST channel switching
-you can select the language & save the language as a default !!!

It NEEDS TT drivers 1.23b installed to work flawlessly !!

Then *very* promising there is "Uhuras" Soft:

http://come.to/uhura ( German language )

His next version 2.0 will be based on the 0.9 drivers for linux...
whatever this means ) and thus free us from the ugly TT drivers i hope ...
But also the current version 1.24 is lean & fast and quite stable, give it a
try ...

And then there is Multidec:

http://erkner.com/free/digi/MultiDec67.zip ( current version )

http://www.netzagent.com/freetv/files/sourcen.zip ( sources )

I only found it on the infamous "FreeTV" site, and i hope the won't rip out
my guts for posting direct d/load links ( because this way you don't have to
go through the 99+ porn site ads ...

It is very fast & straightforward, but no AC3 support, no CAM remote, no
language selection ...

It was my favourite before DVBControl & Uhuras Soft.

And there is WinDVBLive:

http://www.odsoft.org/

Until now the *only* soft that can handle AC3 pass through ( with an sp-dif
soundcard like terratec 512i or sblive ) and lots of nice features.
Sadly the overall speed & stability is so bad that i think it is unusable
right now, lets hope for the new version.
It is the most feature-rich soft out there, but with major problems too ...

Okay, i hope you don't mind me posting links to the "bad & evil" windows
world, but i am not an OS fanatic, i use only the best things, on whatever
OS.

( if i look from left to right i see: NeXTStep, Mac OSX, Win2K, WIn XP, Mac
OS 9.1, Linux all presented in my "toy room" and believe me, they all have
their special goodies :-) )

The biggest thing holding me in the windows world is the presence of so many
nice tools around the whole mpeg-2/AV_PES complex, like pvacut and
pvastrumento ...
Thats why i always will have samba running on my vdr machine :-)

Bye:

Nils
