I just tried this and it worked.
I did a 

  make clean
  make REMOTE=KBD

and started vdr with

  vdr -w 10 -D0

to make it use only the first DVB card. It also worked if I used
all three of my cards, but in case you have only one card, I tested
that, too.

So I'm afraid at the moment I have no idea why it wouldn't work
on your system.
