[linux-dvb] Offtopic(?): AV.Link, Easy Link, MegaLogic & Co for Linux?

Hello,

there is a standard connection type between vcrs and tvs through a
scart-wire using two well defined pins: AV.Link, Easy Link, MegaLogic,
SmartLink & Co (they all mean the same thing)
With AV.Link e.g. you could use the OSD of your TV for programming your
vcr (VDR :-) and many other things ...
(Look at http://www.rfe-online.de/_archiv/01/05/print/p_0501.htm for
some details, sorry this is a german page)

I was wondering if anybody is trying to implement AV.Link for PC's (with
Linux of course ;-), maybe by connecting a self constructed gadget to
the serial or parallel port (like LIRC) and implementing that special
protocoll.
This would be an alternative to LIRC using all the features your TV
(including remote control) provides.
For a perfect Linux settop box this would be perfect ;-)

Any opinions about that?

regards
Stefan
