Have you make a "depmod -a" after compiling?
Have you modified the /etc/modules.conf
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-emu10k1

The ac3dec is in the subdir alsa-tools.

I have a soundblaster live too but it dont work with alsa for ac3 ;(
I have the Driver installed and the ac3dec says somthing about
the ac3 files
"5.1 Mode 48kHz 448kbps Complete Main Audio Service"
but my extern ac3Amp could not regonize a valid stream.
With the opensource.creative driver emu10k1 the ac3 is working
but only with files not with vdr.
Perhaps anybody else have a hint.
