I have also observed that and couldn't find a solution so far.
Interestingly recording always works immediately, but transfer mode
sometimes only works after a few switches between encrypted channels.
I'm not yet totally convinced that it is a driver problem, there may
still be some timing problem withing VDR's transfer mode.
