[linux-dvb] Bitrate estimation

Hi,
I'm trying to estimate the approximate bitrate from my Nova-CI card, counting 
the incoming TS packets for a fixed interval.
I noticed that for some channels (i.e RAI1, hot-bird 13°E, 11766, V, 27500, 
160, 80) the estimation is impossible, getting very different counts from 
trial to trial (bursty traffic?)
My system is a single-card, kernel 2.4.18, RedHat 7.3.

Could anyone give me an explanation of that ?
