Maybe its the load on the machine that causes it. Previously the IRQ kicked off a tasklet, which then kicked off a thread to do the reading. I changed it so it just did the reading in the tasklet directly.

It's an Athlon XP 2500+ so I think it should be able to take it? The recording is only using about 1 % CPU or so. Syslogd & klogd needs about 15 % though to keep up with the logging... :-)

BTW, one hour and still running fine.
