I had to try different ffmpeg versions to get it work. Ah, and don't forget 
the "--enable-shared" ./configure option, if you are going to compile it 
yourself ;-)

linux:~ # cat /etc/directfbrc
system=fbdev
mode=720x576
depth=16
matrox-tv-standard=pal
matrox-crtc2

This way it works on the first head with vdr plugin, but dfb_ts still keeps 
crashing.
