I have in mind to use a Kfir mpeg2 card in conjunction with a Hauppage
wintv card. I'd pick up video output from the tuner on the wintv card and
connect it over to the mpeg2 encoder. This will allow to use the standard
bttv driver to tune the wintv tuner, and then to collect mpeg2 off the
encoder card. Also, wintv has fm radio tuner for other applications.

Does anyone see a problem with this?

Maybe. I have a WinTV-PCI. Unfortunately it does not have any
kind of video output (if it did I would do as you suggest too).
But perhaps one of the other Hauppauge WinTV cards does have a
video output capability. If you find a TV tuner card supported
under Linux and which has a (supported!) video out capability,
please let us know.

Regards,
bruce.
