[vdr] Some suggestions...

Hi List!

During the work with VDR i got some ideas.
Some of them were probably already discussed (sorry).
I do not expect, that most of these features will be
implemented in the next time. But they could probably
improve this great piece of software,

Features for VDR:

- A nice and from my point of view a powerfull
feature would be a context menu in the recordings
menu. You can select a recorded movie, press the
appropiate key for the context menu
and then you can select between several
  hardcoded features (like delete, info,....)
and external scripts like these in the command
menu. But in opposite to the scripts in the
command menu the complete path to the recorded
movie should passed to the script. In this way
the user can add functions, which should work
  only on selected recordings.

- Chapter marks like on DVDs would be helpfull in
some cases. A possible implementation could use
the cutting marks with the additional comment.
If you press two times the ok button during replay
(like the playlist in MP3 mode) the chapterlist
popup and you can select and jump to a chapter.

Features for the MP3 mode:

- I miss a function to add complete directories
  with subdirectories to a mp3-playlist.
- Due to the information in the ID3-Tag it would
be nice to have more powerfull sort (eg. in a
  playlist) and shuffle functions.
  For example:
Select a directory, a special playlist or even
all files and play randomly files from one
  author, genre or whatever.
- Support for a database (single file which contains
path+id3tag of each file) on a removable Media
(eg. CD) would make these media more usable.
Such a database was already used in some projects.
One popular example is the pump project (see C't /99
and 10/99). For a medium which do not contain an
appropriate database the file should be created
and saved on harddisk. So next time you use the
  CD, the database exists.

Suggestion for SVCD,DVD and Mplayer mode:

- The menuitems of these playmodes should be
combined to one. Then the user has not to decide
which playmode is the correct, but only which
  media should be played.
For example you can select in mainmenu an item
"play media" (e.g. DVD Rom) . Then the software
  tests the selected media:
-> If it is a DVD then the DVD mode is used.
-> If it is a VCD/SVCD then the VCD mode is used.
-> If its neither a DVD nor a VCD the soft could try
Mplayer or further modes which are probably added.

What do you think?!

Greetings
Johannes
