I don't see why VDR should not record the secondary audio stream, even if
it is not yet broadcast at the time the recording starts. VDR sets up the
necessary filters and collects the data as it comes.

Could this be a driver problem?

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean.
Can you be more specific?

This is done because it is generally a bad idea to have blanks in file/directory
names. There are several other characters that are converted in order to avoid
problems (see VDR/recording.c).
