[vdr] Re: Introduction from newbie



Sorry to have been so unspecific, when I wrote about burning into DVD-Rs, I
meant burning into DVD-R in the usual Video-DVD format readable by most
living-room DVD players (with ifo, ...).

Would transcode effectively decompress and recompress the stream or use the
existing MPEG2 compression - just rearranging and reformatting what would be
needed? (I checked the transcode web page, but I'm not technical enough to
extract that information) I.e. would we get on-the-fly MPEG2 compression as
the final result or the "good" in-advance compression performed before
broadcasting?
