Depends on the multiswitch.
if it has no socket for an external power supply, then the only way to get
it to work is
using the same power source as the LNB normally would, so via the coax
comming
from the receiver.

My nokia can turn off the LNB but then it's completely off, does it save
power?
Sure but not soo many. Has it an effect on LNB's life cycle? Propably.. I
can't verify this
cause loosing one LNB was more then enough. Does anyone else can verify
this?

I had a multiswitch configuration (2 LNB's). I don't like it. It's better to
avoid any
electronic device between LNB and receiver, less parts means less things
that can break
and less connections which stay the weakest spots in the whole system.
Second: more then one LNB on normal dish : the second and other LNB's look
not optimal
in the focus point of the dish. Also the special formed dishes that support
more LNB's
have a smaller visual size then a normal dish and ...it's more difficult to
keep a dish into it's shape.
My first one rather cheap steel disk bended out of shape due to weather
conditions and was
become almost useless.. severe signal drop.

Bottom line : keep it simple; both on dish/LNB as receiver part.
