This is the protocol to communicate with VDR via the network.
For more information see svdrp.c and svdrp.h (and maybe the manual says

about it,  too - I can't remember).
You can use the provided perl script sendsvdrp.pl to issue the commands.
One command is MESG (or so) which prints a message on the OSD.
You could issue this if your copy is done.
