Is it possible to implement a kind of parental lock on channels?

I am about to place a VDR-box in my living room replacing my VCR, DVD.

Since there are a lot of channels i would not like my children to watch at
all or only within some periods of the day it would be nice with an
interface where I could specify that:

Channel X requires authentication between XX:XX - XX:XX or 00:00 (all day)
