[vdr] AW: Re: workaround for Rev 2.x cards

Well then,

just a short excerpt for those not knowing what signals go through a
SCART-cable (EURO-AV). This connector was introduced to allow a common
standard in Europe for connecting TV/VCR/SAT/etc. It features a connector
with iirc 21 seperate pins.

It *can* transport:

Video: FBAS/Composite-signal
Video: S-Video-signal
Video: RGB-signal
Audio: Stereo-signal
Info: Steering-signal (e.g. TV wake-up from stand-by etc.)

The cable cannot transport RGB *and* S-Video, but only one of those at a
time.
What is sent or received via this cable depends on the source-signal sent
and the setup of the SCART device-connector. No point in sending RGB-signal
via SCART-cable from DVD-Player to a S-Video-SCART-socket in the TV. Got it?

Afaik, there is no TV sold in Europe these days without a SCART-connector.
Generally those accept RGB. If there is a 2nd around, that one will accept
S-Video. In really high-level equipment this can be changed via
OSD-programming.
