I  also  have  a 2.1 by Hauppauge. Yesterday I made an update to vdr 1.0.4
and  installed  the driver patch sent on the list on 12.06.2002 by Michael
Stuermer. The driver is IIRC the one from 01.04.2002 from Klaus' page.

On  all  the  channels  (I  don't  have channels with "blocky" image and I
didn't  test  channels  with "nothing") the signal strength is 31. the SNR
value is depending on the transponder, some have 65, some have 70 and some
have  78  (more  or less constant). On the chamnnels with SNR value of 70,
this  value is "flickering" between 69 and 70 while the channel info ("ok"
button) is shown
