I switched "Format" to "Lang".
I also left and "Ansicht" as "Alle", and left "Bilder",
"Timeline" and "Kontrollen" (poor translation of "controls"
it seems) on, ran update_timers again and got the long
descriptions in my timers.conf without any changes to any
part of the epg2timers package.

Warning - Not all combinations of "Format", "Ansicht",
"Bilder", "Timeline" and "Kontrollen" work with epg2timers.
When you change any of the settings, run update_timers again
and check the number of timers.conf created!

I added the following paragraph to the README file:



As of November 17th, 2000, http://tvtv.de provides a new format
which gives you finer control about what is displayed in the
merkliste. Not all combinations of settings will yield a merkliste.html
file that epg2timers can parse. The following settings are recommended:

Format:     Lang
Ansicht:    Alle
Bilder:     on
Timeline:   on
Kontrollen: on
