Yes it is and I use it already. 
There are some tools you need to convert and build.
At the moment I'm working on a script to simplify the whole thing. Its
still alpha, but useable. I made a readme which points out a lot of the
things to do. But currently it is only available in german.

I think the sony is a +R/+RW-writer? I don't know how to write such
media under Linux.
If dvdrecord supports the writer you could use my script or grab the
program call from it.
