[vdr] Re: [PATCH] AC3overDVB 0.1.0

Hi Stefan,

I applied your patch (VDR & DVD) to two versions:

VDR 1.1.17 (my mod version)
my own "put together" DVB driver from 2002
which I have been using for quite a while.
I patched this from hand.

Vanilla VDR 1.1.21 with the new cii driver
zcat auto patch

My system:

Suse 7.3 Prof
DVB 1.6
CI 1.4
Denon 3802 amp
older Onkyo amp
on a rather complex hifi system ;o))

My results are the same in both cases, so both VDR version
patches DO work, but:

- Live viewing of movies works fine in either DD or normal mode.

- Any DVD ONLY containing DD (5.1) also plays back fine.

- I CAN'T playback any recording on VDR which definately
does NOT contain DD signals (yes I switched off MCA in
  the replay setup ;o))

- I CAN'T replay any recording on VDR, which IMO should
contain DD (so => playback isn't possible for any
   recordings)

- I CAN'T play any DVD containg normal stereo sound

- I CAN'T playback any DVD containing DD & stereo

When I try the above "can'ts" I get a noise similar to white
noise except it's in a staccato mode. It seems to me that
your mods are trying to encapsulate audio even where they
shouldn't be doing this. What I find strange is that live mode
works perfectly. If there is a DD channel avail (tested this
yesterday on Pro-7, I can switch modes with the green
language key and my amp shows either 7.1 channel stereo
(my "stereo mode ;o)) or Dolby Digital.

In the case of working DVDs it says (e.g.) either Dolby Digital
or Dolby Prologic or DTS, so my amp is correctly interpreting
the properly wrapped audio packages.

Falling back on analog audio in the cases of not working doesn't
help. I get the same staccato white noise as on the digital output.
(digital output: same on coax or opto)

Nice work. Hope you can fix the remaining bugs.

Greetz,
Reinhard
