[vdr] SPDIF module for rev 1.3/1.6 cards -> use Asus Motherboardsoptional spdif module

Hey guys,
While I was sorting ot the mess in my spare parts closets I stumbled into an (old, new, can't remember) optional module for asus mainboards that have on board digital out.

The module looks like this:

The module provides digital out (coax and optical), the asus mainboard provides +5, Spdif out, ground, just like the J2 connector found in rev 1.3/1.6 cards.
I just connected pins 2/4/10 of the j2 to +5, spdif and ground of the module and ... it worked.
I tested it with a Creative inspire 5700 receiver, both optical and coax output work, stereo and AC3 (I only tested it with MPlayer, but it works).

The price of the module should be around 15 Euro (I know, its'a lot for a small pcb, a capacitor, an optical transmitter and a couple of resistances, but for the soldering impaired like me it is ok to spend a couple of euros instead of spending two nights trying to burn my fingers ...), but beware, there are at least two versions of the module, one of them with two coax connectors (in and out) and no optical connector.

Have fun

Mattia
