[vdr] Watchdog timer expires during removal of a recording

Hi everybody, Hi Klaus,

after upgrading my hardware I am very very pleased by the functionality
and stability of vdr/dvb-driver software suite. With two DVB-cards I was
able to make three recordings simultainously and even zap trough some
channels or watch one of the recording via timeshift. Impressive!

I had very frequent chrashes and very bad sound glitches lately due to
disintegrating hardware, that is, the mainboard an a buggy (VIA) chipset
leading to very poor harddisk performance (no UDMA).

I replaced the mainbord and I'm happy again. So if instability bites you
it may (!) be due to hardware problems.

Still, one problem persists. Whenever I delete a recording I have a
restart of vdr because the watchdog timer expires while removing the
recording. Below are snippets of /var/log/messages.

I asked on this list about this issue (see my posting from "04 Dec 2002
00:42:38 +0100").

Klaus, in the aforementioned message I related this problem to "removing
files by hand before vdr actually tries to remove them". This is
completly unrelated and the problem persists in version 1.1.27 with the
appropriate driver.

Since this phenomenon hasn't been mentioned on this list by others I
figure that the problem lies somewhere in my system. Can anybody help?

And, by the way, there is still this "ERROR: removing stale lock
file"-message" see below.

My system:
OS: Linux RedHat 8.0
VDR: 1.1.27
DVB: appropriate for VDR-Version
HDD-Troughput: ~128MB/s buffered
Athlon XP 1800
Epox-Mainbord with nforce chipset
