i would like to use xine, but is it possible at the moment?
http://xinehq.de/index.php/faq: " [...] DVB support is very new and experimental feature in xine. The number of supported cards is pretty limited at the moment. ..."

so, can you recommend me a program?

Since vdr allready _is_ a (THE) tv application there would be no sense
in using xine.
You will want to use kvdr.
Hmm did i miss something out ?

AFAIK only if he also wants to use an ols suse, or mess around with
old software to make it work.

I personaly was _never_ able to use kvdr, under no RedHat system ever,
not even with the help of rpmfind.net.

I also have read alot about it ending with ".. either the [old] binary works, or forget it.." and since he is a newbee,
i would discurage mentioning kvdr, unless there is a good resource to
explain how to get it running, or offers some versions running ;-)

(even mplayer is easier to use for dvb-in stuff)

Regards Onno

Ciao Ulrich
