i'd strongly advise against using irda hardware for remote stuff. The
range on those irda trancievers is VERY limited. Better get a dedicated
IR-Remote reciever (like the IRMan http://www.evation.com/irman).

IMHO thats impossible unless you hack the source.
However if your (planed) remote has cursor style keys (up, down, left,
right) you can use them for all replay functions (in replay mode up is
play, down is pause and left, right are rev, ff.) and use the color
coded ones exclusively for color functions.
