Hi,

I'm using SuSE 7.3 with an updated vanilla kernel (2.4.18 & 2.4.20) too, 
with the shipped gcc version (2.95.3).
And I'm having those "unknown picture errors" too.
It got better with DVB 1.0.0 (vdr still v1.2.2) but I had them now with 
LiveTV, but not with recordings.
NB: I'm having a "test scenario" where there used to be corrupted recording 
after 2 - 3 days.
On previous vdr versions (I think it was something around 1.1.29) I *never* 
had them (using selected 1.1.x versions and v1.0.4 for about 1 year).
I had no problems when I set hw_section=1, I'm using hw_sections=0 now.
