[vdr] what does autoPID exactly do?

Hi, 

I asked google but i don't get to know what the autopid patch does....

only:
Dieser Patch bringt vdr dazu, selbeständig neue Sender zu suchen. Das regelmäßige Editieren der channel.conf entfällt somit.

This patch gives vdr the possibility to scan for new channels on its won. The manually scan for new channels and editing of your channel.conf will be a task of the past.


Anything else??? 
just read the thread with dolby digital on zdf...what has autopid patch to do with that??

uses it automatically the digital pid???
