Maybe not better, but vdr2dvd seems to be quiet old (Page Last edited:

author even said, that he don't want that anyone uses old copies any
more). ds.jar is now succeded by X080 (or ProjectX). I use vdrsync to
convert my recording. Looking briefly over vdr2dvd, I saw, that it first
concatenates the vdr-files for further processing. As vdrsync's demux
routine is writen in perl (and does not need a external (java) program),
it does not need this step (concatenating 4GB files can take quite long
and needs additional 4GB space!). vdrsync also uses actual versions of
the dvdauthor package, which improved a lot in the last half year.

Another way to generate DVDs from your recordings is the vdrconvert
package. It is a complete framework writen in shell-scripts to convert
your recordings to many different formats like DivX-AVIs or of course
DVD images (which can be automatically burned also. It is fully
integrated in vdr meaning, you have a "context menu" on your recording,
where you can select "Make a DVD from this".

Both packages can be found easily with google.
