Ok, any help appreciated, I have this working as mentioned above. I also 
managed to get vdr to compile with DVB support. I can run vdr, with 
something like vdr -d -P "*" and it seems to execute and become a 
daemon, but I'm stumped as to how to get the OSD working. Should it 
appear as soon as I start vdr ?
