[vdr] Feature: starting a recording would not break playback for plugins

Hi,

My wife likes to use the MP3 plugin when she does her morning and evening
Quigong excercises (about an hour including some relaxing music for
stretching). She uses the MP3 plugin and an easily started playlist for
the needed music and it all works very well, she doesn't even need to turn
on the TV to get it running.

However, every time VDR starts a recording (ie. timer) the audio playback
of the MP3 plugin is interrupted, the plugin terminated and the audio (and
video of course) from the new recording is being played. So she has to
restart the MP3 plugin (which works fine once the recording has started)
and fast forward in the quit long tracks to get back to where she was.

Apparently there is no technical reason for the recording thread to "steal
the audio device" if some plugin uses it? Maybe the plugins could be able
to tell VDR what the plugin uses audio/video for and what to do when a
recording needs to be started? For instance the MP3 plugin doesn't mind
VDR retuning to some other channel and recording, as long as the audio
isn't interrupted.

Or am I really out in the dark woods here?

Regards,

'Educational' refers to the process, not the object. Although, come to think
of it, some of my teachers could easily have been replaced by a cheeseburger.
