Let's not be rude even though we disagree. You've only managed to make
yourself look like a teenager now.

I  wouldn't  consider  a  "child  protection"  really  as  a protection of
children  against some stuff they shouldn't see. But maybe as a protection
against  accidental  removing  of  recordings by children or by partner or
some guests or oneself.

(you know: pressing those funny looking yellow buttons...)

I would consider it like the write-protection thing on floppy discs...
I think there's a point here, but the suggested solution at the start
of this thread is over-the-top. A PIN code you need to enter before
being able to command VDR via a remote would be perfectly adequate.
That is if someone thinks it important enough for them to write the
code, which is likely not much of it. It'd probably exists just before
the main loop and the starting of that watch dog.
