[vdr] Re: HF-Modulator

Tobias,
where did you get the info about the other components that are needed to build the complete modulator?

does anyone have experience with such a modulator ? How is the quality of
the pictures ?
I want to put my vdr-box into my cellar and distribute the videosignal via
the normal antenna cable. Infraredsignal is transmitted via an
infrared-cable-transmitter.

I've bought a bare HF-modulator (approx. 2 EUR) from Pollin and soldered the rest together. That's at least cheap and cables are no issue. My modulator
does not support stereo, but that's no problem outside of the living room.
Initially I've placed the modulator inside the PC case and fed it with power
from the PC power supply, but the noise was very visible. With its own
power supply and mounted in its own shielded case everything is OK.
The video quality is at least as good as the quality which I had with cable
TV. So, if that's your reference, use the HF modulator.

Ciao,

Tobias
