The softmpeg plugin works well with DirectFB - or at least I found it worked better than softdevice.
Might be worth a go for you?

I just broke the Tv output off my nexus-s DVB card with an electric shock.
I have a matrox G550 with dfbmga tv out working perfectly.
Is there a way to send the vdr output through the dfbmga tv out ?
