[vdr] Read-Only EPG data file?

I have two VDR machines.
Machine A has multiple cards, is always on and does EPG scans.
Machine B has only one card, is only on when needed and does
not do EPG scans.

Obviously it would be nice if machine B could use machine A's
EPG data file in a read-only fashion, because that file is
always up-to-date.

I took a quick look at the code and saw that this is not
currently implemented.

Would it be a good idea to implement an option (--epg-read-only)
that does this or is there an easier solution?
