[vdr] Simple "dialog box" functions for OSD?

Hi,

I'm just starting to play about writing my own plugins and I'm wondering
if there is a simple function I can call to bring up the vdr equivalent
of a dialog box with a message in it which stays on screen until
specifically removed. Does such a function exist or do I need to go
through creating an osd and doing it all 'by hand'?
