Hello Thierry
I just looked at the last graf on http://www.linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/V4L2UserspaceLibrary and I think I don't find point 4 (prepare data for the v4l2 helper) in the code....
Sorry, we are too slow with development, please be patient, however we finally moved forward in past few days. Thanks.
Thanks for your answer! Does this help me?
I don't care how your development is going! I just asked a question.
No, you didn't.
The answer should be "this is not implement, yet, but It's supposed to work like ...., if you have time to do it, just do it! We are open for volunteers" or something similar.
We are open for volunteers! Well, you are in opensource world, volunteers are ever welcome, you don't need to ask.

Is this not a question "I think I don't find point 4 (prepare data for the v4l2 helper) in the code....", OK, I forgot the question mark and the real question "Is there some code missing? and if it is, what can I do to help?" Does this please you better?
Thomas

Well, doesn't matter. Thierry is working on improvement of commands passing from v4lext driver to the helper daemon now which I initially implemented (it needs rework).
There is missing huge bunch of code described in the specification. Actually only the base commands passing and reading through ext from base driver is done plus some supporting code for helper daemon.
You can pick up anything undone and start working on it.
Thanks.

This sounds much better :-) and I will pick up, when I get the info I need.
Did you read my former mail?
I really don't get how I can forward the stream to userspace (v4l2ext_helper daemon). Any pointers on this would be nice.

Sorry, this is what is being developped right now.
The stream would go through daemon mmaps v4lext calls base driver mmap daemon gets base's memory puts uncompressed data somewhere real application mmaps the somewhere and gets what it wanted
I think the conrete shape (the code) is under development, but the first 3 steps are there for sure (you don't need to do anything, the daemon will actully mmap the base driver like any other application).

OK, I will take a look again. I did not get any mmap in the helper daemon. May be I made a mistake.
Anyway I was quite happy that I can get the same data from /dev/video1 (this is the v4lext driver) as I would get from /dev/video0 :-)
Form me it looks when I start v4l2ext_helper daemon it does almost nothing?

Hello Thierry
No comments from your side?
Should it be possible to receive the stream in the helper daemon with the current version?
The helper daemon hangs at the select command in the "for" loop. The "poll_wait()" get called in the extension module and it returns, but it get only called once.
Any pointers are welcome.
