After the installation of udev-055, 2.6.11.6 and making the adaptions as
proposed in

/.../kernelSource/Documentation/dvb/udev.txt.

I couldn't watch DVB-C anymore (using tvtime).
I fixed the problem by doing

rm /dev/video0
ln -s /udev/video0 /dev/video0

The former device state was

ls -l /dev/video*

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2004-06-25 21:50 /dev/video -> video0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 0 2004-04-06 15:27 /dev/video0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 1 2004-04-06 15:27 /dev/video1
crw-rw---- 1 root root 171, 16 2004-04-06 15:27 /dev/video1394
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 2 2004-04-06 15:27 /dev/video2
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 3 2004-04-06 15:27 /dev/video3

Now everything is fine.

However, it still leaves an unanswered question:
1) Is tvtime expected to check both /udev/video0 and /dev/video0 ?
2) Should udev create a symlink from /udev/video0 /dev/video0,
i.e. are there additional rules required ?
3) Was I supposed from the beginning to make "ln -s /udev/video0
/dev/video0" as I did ?
4) Do I miss something fundamentally?

I'll appreciate every hint concerning my question.

Ciao Ruediger D.
