That was me. Just to confirm that my Avermedia 771 is working fine now 
with Gentoo's latest 2.6.12 and the patches from the date that I posted. 
I did need to pass pci=noacpi to my kernel to get the mt352 frontend to 
work but that just might be my motherboard.
