I am using kernel 2.6.10 (Ubuntu). I followed the
instructions, but applied to 2.6.10. That is, I
uncommented line line 269
(<http://lxr.linux.no/source/drivers/media/dvb/dibusb/dvb-dibusb.h?v=2.6.10#L269>).
At first it seemed to work : the device was recognized
as 'cold', the firmware loaded and the green "on"
light switched on -- but not the blue one which must
correspond to RF tuning I think.

So when I try to 'tzap' to a channel, I have :

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and
'/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
tuning to 730167000 Hz
video pid 0x026c, audio pid 0x0276
status 00 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 00 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 00 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 00 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 04 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 04 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 04 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 04 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 04 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 04 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |

And it stays with this status on and on. Whereas, when
I boot with a *warm* device, I have :

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and
'/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
tuning to 730167000 Hz
video pid 0x026c, audio pid 0x0276
status 00 | signal 0000 | snr 0000 | ber 001fffff |
unc 00000000 |
status 1f | signal 0b20 | snr 0297 | ber 000000cc |
unc 00000060 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal ffff | snr 028e | ber 00000000 |
unc 00000060 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal ffff | snr 02aa | ber 00000000 |
unc 00000060 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal ffff | snr 021d | ber 00000000 |
unc 00000060 | FE_HAS_LOCK

And then it works OK (sound/video in MPlayer for
example).
What is even stranger is that hotplug is unable to
upload the firmware to the device more than one time
-- if I unplug and replug the device for example. It
says 'did not find a valid firmware file' but I know
this is not the origin of the error as the file is
here. I have to reload hotplug through its init.d
script to finally get the firmware uploaded.

Do you have an idea of what's going on ?
Is it possible to backport the latest DVB kernel to
2.6.10 ?

Cheers,
