Yea, that's what I think I'm doing

martin at jet:~/v4l/hg$ mkdir new
martin at jet:~/v4l/hg$ cd new/
martin at jet:~/v4l/hg/new$ hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb; cd
v4l-dvb; make ; sudo make unload; sudo make install; sudo modprobe bttv

and I get ..
.
.
.
Installing /lib/modules/2.6.16-mjp-8/kernel/drivers/media/video/zc0301
files:

make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/martin/v4l/hg/new/v4l-dvb/v4l'
FATAL: Error inserting bttv
(/lib/modules/2.6.16-mjp-8/kernel/drivers/media/video/bttv.ko): Unknown
symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

dmesg says:

Linux video capture interface: v1.00
bttv: disagrees about version of symbol videobuf_streamoff
bttv: Unknown symbol videobuf_streamoff
bttv: disagrees about version of symbol videobuf_poll_stream
bttv: Unknown symbol videobuf_poll_stream
bttv: disagrees about version of symbol videobuf_read_stop
