OK so the error case looks like:

writing [ 00 06 00 00 00 00 00 fa ]
dst(0) dst_gpio_outb: mask=[ffffffff], enbb=[0000], outhigh=[0000]
dst(0) read_dst: reply is 0x0
dst(0) dst_get_device_id: Write not Acknowledged! [Reply=0x00]

I must admit that I'm a little ignorant as to how the hardware works. Are
these commands over i2c (not that I know anything much about i2c currently),
or is gpio something entirely different?

Could it be a that the i2c address or IO port address is wrong?

Why would these be affected when the cx22702 card is installed?

Can anyone suggest some recommending reading on the hardware?
