  $ sudo apt-get build-dep vdr
  $ apt-get source vdr
  $ cd vdr-1.*
  $ DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS='debug nostrip' debuild binary

(You may need to use 'noopt' instead of 'debug' - check debian/rules first.)
