I only see the keyboard events and the multiple repeats when I don't
have the remote plugin running correctly, so it still may be worth
checking. e.g. try the following which should report that VDR has the
right device node open:
# lsof -c vdr | grep /dev/input
vdr 4638 vdr 10r CHR 13,66 5097 /dev/input/event2
