CD drive

These are quasi not available anymore, but every DVD drive is able to read CDs too.

CD writer

These are only conditional suitable for archiving purposes of VDR recordings because of the high data rate and the resulting great size. (1 hour recording => ~1GB size).

DVD drive

These drives can play CDs and DVDs and most of the re-/writeable formats.

DVD writer

DVD drive are perfectly suitable for archiving of VDR recording. Either in native VDR format or exported as DVD for replay on commercial DVD players.
