Introduction
DXR3 cards are hardware encoder cards, originally designed for dvd viewing on slow PCs. With such a card you can build a cheap VDR with hardware MPEG decoder.
You cannot buy new cards anymore, but ebay and co have often such cards.

Usually thes cards have names like

- DXR3
- Sigma Designs
- Real Magic
- Videologic
