[linux-dvb] Compile failure vdr 0.71 against latest cvs-version of dvb

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello everybody,

yesterday I installed the latetst cvs version of DVB. I am using
kernel 2.4.2 and had some problems with unresolved modules which
I solved by enabling i2c and video for linux support in kernel config.

After that the modules loaded just fine and I was able to enjoy (?)
n-tv using linux and my new design hauppauge dvb-s.
Thanks very much to all of you who made this possible. Even after
using linux for 7 years now I am still fascinated by the power
of free software development.

After inserting the modules I tried to compile VDR against the
new driver sources. It failed comlaining about parsing errors
in kernel header files. It seems like there are some problems
due to nested includes but I was not able to track them down. One
parsing error was because ulong was not typedefed in a header file.
linux/types.h was included in this file, though. I am using a fairly
fresh SuSe 7.0 install. Does anybody have a clue? Could it be because
__KERNEL__ is defined during DVB compilation and certainly not
during the VDR compilation process?

Yours, Joachim
