[linux-dvb] LIRC and other remote recievers

Hi,

what is the best deal at the moment:

I try to find out what is the best remote reciever for VDR and other DVB/DVD related software. 
I have all components for the remote reciever of Klaus Schmidinger, the original VDR remote reciever. Does anybody know if it is LIRC compatible or is it possible to use it with other software ?
