Same Problem here.

I use a "main" VDR with 4 CARDīs and 400GB Harddrives. At this machine i run a NFS-Server to allow other VDR-Machines to record at the local Hardrives.

I have noticed that the NFS-SERVER have a high CPU-LOAD.

Some Dayīs ago i have upgraded to a 800 PIII Processor because i have also this problem if i record with all 4 CARDīs simultaneously.
Now i have to look if itīs better now....

A realy great feature would be to implement "extern direcotrys" (at the moment VDR only  access /video0 - a great thing would be to define in a config file other /directorys - maybe with a "RW" or "RO" option to define wich direcory is for replay only and wich Directory for Reply and  Record.
So it would be possible to split the "recording Load" to another NFS SERVER or to a Local Harddrive and all VDRīs Machines in the Network can mount this as a "external Video Directory"
