Hi Stefan,

I gave it a try, as I know exactly how to produce an ARM crash on my box ;-)
Basically I don't discover any difference apart from a changed log message.
At least it does not reboot the machine.

Here it comes:

Aug 22 17:00:30 shiva vdr[2213]: probing /dev/ost/qamfe1
Aug 22 17:00:30 shiva vdr[2213]: found 1 video device
Aug 22 17:00:30 shiva vdr[2213]: setting primary DVB to 1
Aug 22 17:00:30 shiva vdr[2213]: switching to channel 1
Aug 22 17:00:30 shiva vdr[2213]: SVDRP listening on port 2001
Aug 22 17:00:30 shiva vdr[2217]: LIRC remote control thread started (pid=2217)
Aug 22 17:00:33 shiva vdr[2213]: switching to channel 2
Aug 22 17:00:33 shiva vdr[2213]: switching to channel 3
Aug 22 17:00:36 shiva vdr[2213]: switching to channel 2
Aug 22 17:00:37 shiva vdr[2213]: switching to channel 1
Aug 22 17:01:43 shiva vdr[2213]: replay
/video/Sightings_-_Dem_Unerklärlichen_auf_der_Spur/2001-08-20.14:03.50.50.rec
Aug 22 17:01:43 shiva vdr[2213]: playing
'/video/Sightings_-_Dem_Unerklärlichen_auf_der_Spur/2001-08-20.14:03.50.50.rec/001.vdr'
Aug 22 17:01:44 shiva vdr[2230]: output thread started (pid=2230)
Aug 22 17:01:44 shiva vdr[2231]: input thread started (pid=2231)
Aug 22 17:01:44 shiva vdr[2231]: resuming replay at index 6936 (0:04:37.12)
Aug 22 17:01:44 shiva kernel: dvb: playback 480x576 fr=3
Aug 22 17:02:11 shiva kernel: dvb0: ARM crashed!
Aug 22 17:02:14 shiva kernel: dvb: playback 480x576 fr=3

Then it hangs as usual. Sound is coming back after I killall -9 vdr, but no
video until I reload the driver.
The ARM crash message appeared after roughly 3 seconds of fast forward
while the progress bar is active.
(I started vdr with -a option).
Earlier versions crashed immediately here, but possibly the crash happening
later is due to the driver being loaded freshly.

Greetings
Stephan
