Hi Stefan,

I doubt it's related to ALSA because the driver crashes also with "vdr -a 
'cat > /dev/null'".
At least here it does.
What really amazes me is the fact that vdr can crash the driver just by 
updating the OSD while writing to a pipe.

 From the mails I got so far I cannot find any hardware or os correlations.
It seems to have nothing to do with kernel or dvb card versions however.
CPU doesn't seem to make any difference either.
