[linux-dvb] "cat >/dev/video" doesn't work anymore

Hello,

maybe my email I sent at 2001-08-31 was not read due to the traffic on
this list or maybe noone could help me.
If the second case matches: Who can help me? Maybe I should write a PM to
one of the developers of the driver, shouldn't I?

regards,
Frank Meurer

Hello,

we (me and a workmate) use a linux-pc with a DVB-card.
The first card did work fine (Siemens,linux-2.2.17,dvb 0.81?,vdr 0.71?).
Now my workmate uses an other card with a SAA7146 (IMHO hauppauge).
Now this card also works (VDR too):

frank$ls -l
insgesamt 8
drwxr-xr-x    7 frank    frank        4096 Aug 30 18:47 DVB
drwxr-xr-x    5 frank    frank        4096 Aug 30 19:47 VDR
lrwxrwxrwx    1 frank    frank           3 Aug 30 18:47 siemens_dvb-0.9-20010822-DVB -> DVB
lrwxrwxrwx    1 frank    frank           3 Aug 31 17:24 vdr-0.93 -> VDR
frank$uname -a
Linux XXXXXX 2.4.9-ac3fm1 #4 Don Aug 30 18:02:14 CEST 2001 i686 unknown

With the new card/driver these commands fail:
  cat 001.vdr >/dev/video
  cat /dev/video >1.vdr
Recording/replaying with VDR works fine.

Are the video-devices not supported on other cards than Siemens?
Any other suggestions?
Do you need to know the exact type of the card? Well, then I have to open
the PC. ;-)

regards,
Frank Meurer
